Mandate of KVK Jalaun

The four-point ICAR mandate of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalaun

ICAR Mandate

The four core functions of every Krishi Vigyan Kendra

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is a farm science centre of ICAR. Each KVK in India operates under the same four-point mandate — ensuring that agricultural technology developed at research stations reaches the farmers who need it most. KVK Jalaun fulfils this mandate across the farming communities of Jalaun district.

🔬

1. Technology Assessment, Refinement & Demonstration

Assessing location-specific technology modules in the context of farming systems. KVK Jalaun conducts On Farm Trials (OFTs) to test and refine ICAR technologies under actual farming conditions prevailing in Jalaun's development blocks — covering diverse soil types, cropping systems and socio-economic situations.

📢

2. Organising Training to Update Extension Personnel

Updating skills and knowledge of extension functionaries and practicing farmers with the latest agricultural technologies. KVK Jalaun conducts vocational training for farmers, farm women, rural youth and state extension workers in improved crop production, livestock management and allied subjects.

🌾

3. Front Line Demonstrations

Conducting Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) to establish production potential of technologies on farmers' fields. KVK Jalaun demonstrates improved varieties and practices of major crops — wheat, gram, mustard, sesamum, urd, pigeon pea — across all 9 development blocks, showing farmers the yield gap that improved technology can bridge.

4. Farm Advisory Services

Providing farm advisories to farmers on various aspects of crop and livestock production. KVK Jalaun provides season-specific crop advisories, pest and disease management guidance, weather-based farm planning and market information through the Kisan Helpline (1800-180-1551) and direct interaction with farmers at the centre.
