Validating improved agricultural technologies under the actual farming conditions of Jalaun district
Where research meets reality
On Farm Trials (OFTs) are the scientific backbone of KVK Jalaun's technology assessment work. Before any technology is widely recommended to farmers, it is tested under the actual soil, climate and management conditions prevalent in Jalaun district.
OFTs help identify which varieties, practices and technologies perform best under Jalaun's specific agro-climatic conditions โ ensuring that recommendations made to farmers are both practical and profitable.
Results from OFTs feed into the district's contingency plans, annual action plans, and location-specific crop advisories issued by KVK Jalaun to the farming community.
Testing new and improved varieties of wheat, gram, mustard, sesamum, urd, pigeon pea, bajra, sorghum and other major crops under Jalaun's soil and climate conditions to identify best performers.
Evaluating optimal planting density, fertilizer schedules, irrigation timing, weed management and other agronomic options to maximise productivity and profitability for Jalaun farmers.
Testing integrated pest and disease management strategies โ combining cultural, biological and chemical methods โ suitable for the local pest pressure and farming systems of Jalaun district.
Evaluating soil amendments, micronutrient applications, bio-fertilizers and organic matter management options to improve soil productivity in the varied soil types of Jalaun's development blocks.
Testing irrigation scheduling, water-saving techniques and drought-tolerant varieties in the context of Jalaun's irrigated and rain-fed farming conditions.
Systematic evaluation of new ICAR technologies โ from seed treatments to crop protection products to post-harvest methods โ under the socio-economic conditions of Jalaun district farmers.
